  • Hey man, this is just out of curiosity and I guess desire to help.
I'm not being mean at all.
    Let me get this straight.
You take a existing design of 'x thing'
Then you take not only the name of another brand, but actually use product they made to make another product.
Now, yeah you do add your own flare. No argument there. And that's good.
And you have talent. You really do know how to do the things you do.
And it does take thought, ingenuity and WORK on your part.
However, man that's other people's work you are stitching your label on. It's the exact same as if you just cad filed a graphic of LV into a machine and had it spit out some fabric for you. I mean you could even go and get the materials they use and do it on that.
I'm not being down on you here.
    Not at all.
But man that's someone's name. They built that. And yes you give them credit and you share their story. But that's not yours to do.
It not the same as someone selling fakes out of their van. It's not. You are being honest that it's a rework. And putting your name on it keeps you honest too.
But do you see how someone might say you are riding someone else's wave here?
I mean LV catches eyes and commands a premium price.
I'm pretty sure if I took a bunch of old rolexes and broke them down to make a wall clock where I used the bracelets as the housing, the dial faces as the clock face and took one of the movements out and rigged it to work as a clock movement, that would be viewed as kinda low rent.
I mean I did come up with the idea, I put in the work.
But I'm taking the name and brand recognition that comes from someone else's work to get eyes on my product.
    Because it is a product.
If I or you did something like this ONCE as an art piece, that would be something else, but this isnt making an art piece.
    What is Louis Vuitton?
At the base, it's an object that they make of or cover in some sort of fabric or material that is adorned with the LV logo. It doesnt matter what that material started out as. If it was the leather if a purse that's now a hat, or if it was jeans and an umbrella that's now a waist bag.
Just because you put skilled labor into that transformation doesnt really make it not stealing of a sort. Just because you honestly tell people that its reworked, doesnt mean you arent primarily benefiting from the work someone else put into building their name.
I'm just curious how you think of this and if this is a conversation you've had before?
Again you are out there hustling and DOING stuff. Good on you. You really are trying to build something and you have the skills you have. And just so you know, im not really talking about breaking the fanny pack down, everyone does that. There are only so many designs for one. But taking someone product and name recognition and making your own thing out of it that intrinsically utilizes their name?
    That's gonna piss someone off.
    Just saying.

  • Wtf is this? So he creates something out of something and calls it his own?

That's like me buying an iPhone, taking out the entire system inside of it, then putting it into a shell I got from a third party manufacturer, slapping on my own logo, and calling it my own.

  • Youre just stealing from real companies and claiming their products as your own! You're destroying someone else is work, you turn high quality into low quality, and have the audacity to brand it as your own!!!

  • So my question is, are you finding the designer things in discarded places or buying them new? With the world trying to be more sustainable are you helping in that front? Because us broke peeps have been doing what you're doing since forever. Remaking popular items so we can have it too. Seriously would love to sit down and talk with him. He seems versed in designer history.

  • Technically, i think, this is still "counterfeit" as the company has not given you the rights to put there symbols on your creation. As you stated in the video they have the patent on the repetitive logo.

  • Good ad but I just think it's just so wasteful you take apart the fanny pack to get the pattern one good product made unusable then the two loui products which are also made unusable just to make one product which although pretty is impractical because it's unlikely to be good in rainfall and would be quick to wear down sorry for my rant but that's just my opinion to me it's like cutting down three trees to make 1 stack of paper the process may be impressive but penutimatley petty

  • No offence but this dumb fuck could easily just find literally the exact same fanny pack pattern online and not waste a whole ass product to make one item that is also mass produced. Louis Vuitton is about as “luxury” as h and m when it comes to fabric, seeing as they all come from the same sweatshops in China. Can guarantee you that you can find offcuts of that fabric for sale from the same manufacturer of the jeans IN CHINA, likely for much cheaper than a pair of second hand jeans.
