Lost may have had a notoriously disappointing last episode, but GOT had the most notoriously disappointing last season in TV history
I can only imagine how painful season 8 was for Dom.
OMG I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate Mrs. Stark!!!!!
The White Walkers ruined the show for me because I could not bring myself to care about anything else but them, I found myself saying “who cares if the blonde brat is the true heir or not, THERE ARE ZOMBIES COMING TO FUCK SHIT UP”
I actually call it the “White Walker Effect”
11:41 Only Kenpachi Zaraki can look badass while having bells in his hair and that's partly due to the power of anime.
My friend got me to watch the first season and most of the second (Jamie just attempted to escape, and was caught), and Catelyn (or, Big Mama Stark as I think of her) is currently my favourite character, other than perhaps Tyrion and his crew, so I'm kinda dreading seeing what she does to make Dominic hate her so much. Jamie is kinda growing on me, too.
Well, I stumbled upon this way late but hoo boy I can't wait until Dom gets to season 8.
Fuck cat. Probably my least favorite POV character
it’s interesting that in a story like this were they show of multiple perspectives and wiews that fans argue that he becomes more of a scumbag if he rapes the mc then just the peasants (not saying wich is better just saying his character’s morality/his douche bag level does not change)
You were right for watching the show before the book. I kept pointing at the characters and saying “No! Your didn’t look like this in my head!” And it was very distracting. Also, people in the show being all like “OMG, so cold! Oh so cold!” and not wearing goddamn hats made me very mad, as someone who lives where the winters can get -40 of Celsius. Anyway, I watched only like, 2 or 3 episodes of the show
7:30 PFFT like that will happen with this show!
OMG! I will need to ask George if that is true next time I see him.
Lost:
I have famously disappointingly series finale.
Game of thrones:
Move over kid and let the Adult (series) how it's done.
Kind of off topic but I keep wondering why it seems like almost every fan chooses to dress up as a member of the night's watch / jon snow. I can get it if you want to dress as jon but are people forgetting that with a few exceptions most of the members of the nights watch are possibly violent criminals? Just saying if I were in Westeros that's not the crowd I'd choose to hang out with
Oh sweet summer child, back when the show was still amazing
My first thought on watching this is DAMN you must've been GUTTED by season 8.
17:15: In retrospect, that's a bit of an understatement…
Catelyn is one of the best characters in the books and one of the best mothers. She had all the right reasons for hating Jon, he was the symbol of her husbands infidelity, why should she love him? She didn't know of his parentage. She also died thinking all of her children were dead. Her last chapter in the books is absolutely haunting and solidifies her place as one of the best wives and mothers in the books and the show.
here is a rule i have: never ever get invested in anything that is still unfinished. be it early access games, tv shows, movie series etc.
"Avoiding the term The Others so as to not be mistaken for a long running show with a disappointing ending" whew, sure glad they steered wiiiide clear of that.
The reason all the the actors were aged up was because George RR Martin believed that if one aspect of the story got changed (i.e Dani’s age) then it would have an effect for the rest of the story-that’s why all the characters had to be aged up
Hating Catlyn Stark for the way she treated Jon is to willingly overlook Ned Stark's selective sort of honor.
He barely knew her when he first got home with a baby, but he did eventually get to know his wife and he could have kept his promise to Jon's mother and treated his wife with respect by telling her after he trusted her that he'd promised the baby's mother that he'd never tell his true parentage, for the protection of Jon.
The Starks are not the brightest family in any created world but this was stupid and nasty.
The Dom says that a man with bells on his hair can't be intimidating, well my friend let me introduce you to Captain of Squad 11 Kenpachi Zaraki.
I don't know if you are into anime and manga but if you are and have no idea what I am talking about read/watch Bleach.
Will you analyse and compare the rest of the series? (At least up to the end of season 4…I'd include season 5 but the plots that season were so different it's probably not fair to compare them)
Related to your bleakness point…I started re-reading asoiaf from the start and I got up to the chapter where I knew Lady was going to die and I stopped reading for like 2 weeks because I just didn't want to deal with it and then I was like "oh my god what about literally EVERYTHING ELSE THAT HAPPENS…" Anyway still my favourite books tho
I hated the rape scene on Danys wedding night too. That was unnecessary and uncalled for. Not that Khal Drogo is a nice guy by any stretch of the word in the books, but that makes me wonder, how tv Drogo became so popular, even with Jason Momoa playing him.
Wait, I am as old as game of thrones!?
lol -F Cat there is no excusing how she treated a child!
You are braver than I to do this task. Many have died trying. But don't worry if you did we will pay for your funeral.
My husband got me into the series. It will be one of my favorites book wise as well. And I agree, Dom about Catelyn Stark. Jesus, as I read her point of view and how she treats Jon made me very angry. I under why, but seriously.. screw you lady!
We watched this series while I was pregnant with out daughter and I cried every time one of the direwolves died since wolves are one of my favorite animals. Tyrion and Sandor Clegane are my husbands favorite characters.
Wow cute Cat hate, did you mistake her with Cersei? Yes, Catelyn wants the best for her children, no, she doesn't think she (and she alone) knows what is best for everyone. Catelyn is knowledgeable and is ambitious but you make it sound like Cat's decisions come out of malice, even though they usually come out of actual concern or affection. She speaks her mind to others but also listens and yields when she knows the other is right. But I guess women having ambitious is baaaad?
Ned wanted to decline the honor of being the Hand and betrothing Sansa to the Crown Prince, forget all medieval courtesies and as Robert put it "bury his head in the snow". While Catelyn was fearful of the possible meaning of the direwolf with an antler on it's throat, she also was court enough to know that there's no reason of Ned to decline Robert (and how declining might affect their relation with the crown) and she really didn't push it until after reading Lysa's letter. The letter, with the help of Cat and Luwin, is what pressured Ned to take the offer even if he STILL didn't want to. It is also Ned who decides that Catelyn will stay with Robb and Rickon in Winterfell, that Sansa shall wed Joffrey, that Arya will come as well to learn some ladylike manners (and that in few years she will be of marriage age as well) and that Bran will also come.
Her character got totally flipped in the show. Show!Cat doesn't want Ned to be the second most powerful (or the most powerful in a way) man in the realm or have her daughter be a queen. Show!cat wanted to bury her head into the snow with Ned, call the king a fat man and not have her daughter as a queen because "she would miss her"
(inB4 someone claims I stan Cat, no, no I don't)
While talking about Tyrion, you could have pointed out the introduction of him as a character. First time we're introduced to him in books is in a library (after he heads for the breakfast with J, C and the kids) and later in the book he mentions that he hasn't had sex for about a year, since before Robert's party left for Winterfell. Show!Tyrion is introduced banging prostitutes and making jokes right away, how dignified
Dom: Peter Dinklage is a bit more handsome than his book counterpart.
Me: … Oh hell yeah…
cat sucks a lot of the stark problems are directly her fault
