Even if you have a 900p or 1080p monitor, running games at greater-than-native resolutions can make your games look sharper, more detailed, and it greatly reduces aliasing. IT’S NOT EFFICIENT, but it can look beautiful if you have the GPU power to spare!

  • Best antialiasing
    Number 1. 8x MSAA
    Number 2. 32x CSAA
    Number 3. DSR

  • This isn't viable for first-person shooters though, there's too large an input delay for any form of competitive play 🙁

  • The supersampling helped me with the fxaa-no aa problems in gta 5 on my 1080p monitor, example:

mix 2k with fxaa and corrected many problems

  • actually it doesnt work that way, i set 2k resolution on 1080p monitor with supersampling&virtual enable the result is persistent fuzzy/blurry, same issue for any non native resolution like 720p, this is somewhat a bullshit from amd

  • Hi JermGaming, I'm not sure if this has been asked before (maybe somewhere in this list of 470+ comments) but would you be able to re-post your high quality version of this video on your Google Drive? Whenever I click on your link above it comes back with an error. Thanks a bunch!

  • Diablo 3 handles super sampling really well. Definite improvement over 1080p, UI scales appropriately.

  • Only use supersampling when you don't have 1080p monitor. 4k is a mistake.

  • Its the same with movies. If you downsample a 4k movie to 1080p it will look better than the same movie shot in 1080p.

  • Why does higher resolution make things more vibrant?

Sean Eredia June 27, 2020 9:00 am Reply
  • I originally was coming to the conclusion that supersampling rendered needing higher resolution displays as obsolete but that GTAV comparison of supersampled 4k vs native recorded 4k proved me wrong.
